Our mind embrace memories...
There is always a time when we feel the need to travel to the past and brink back all the beauty of our carefree days.In the midst of all our busy schedules, let us sit and take a breath in our comfort zone, inhale the air of our childhood and we know we are here...
Coffee is actually my comfort drink because it remind me how my father and my grandparents love it very much.I still remember when the coffee beans turning red in backyard,my grandmother will be busy there since morning till afternoon. She pick it by herself and collect it in the bamboo basket. When it done, she will mashing the beans till the skin half peeled and then dry it under the sun.Few days after when all the beans dried she will peel off the coffee bean skin and roasting it in the clay pot. This scent, when the coffee beans is roasting,I missing all the time. What it call??
I can't find the word to describe how I love the coffee roasting smells,or even the taste (I like to pick it and eat) which is "Lovely Bitter".At last, she grind it with the traditional grinder call "Lumpang",don't ask me what it call in English, because never have.
Then now...when I can't drink coffee as much when I'm younger, coffee roasting smells still very much make me missing the beautiful moment in my chilhood.
Today I was walking alone in Living World mall looking for place for lunch (I'm confuse what I want to eat) when I "found" HEI KOPI.When I look at the menu, there was Nasi Lemak which is make me more hungry,so I decided to enter the restaurant and sit near the window.
This restaurant (or coffee shop?) concept remind me to Yakun Kaya Toast in Singapore, but the most eye catching is the art on the wall.
The atmosfer is relax in this place and comfy with the nice staf, free wifi and quite fast connection, and there is smoking room in the corner. At the time not too crawded and I like the place because facing two side,to the mall and carpark which is no car parking there at the moment so I can see the Alam Sutra road with all the trees there.
This nasi lemak quite tasty and chicken curry is light,as normally I had tried in Singapore or Malaysia, the portion is not too much and just righ for me.If you too hungry,I guess doesn't fill you up much but incase you can order another food (they have delicious foods in the menu).Another side dishes is mini cracker, fried peanut, salty fish and egg (I like this round egg).It was delicious just the sambal not enough spicy for me hehe...chili is expensive too now.
I didn't know why I order Teh Tarik but it was nice to drinks in the rainy afternoon.Warm and sweet.
Because...all beautiful written stories started with a cup of coffee. It tells story more than you can imagine.
It is true!!!
When I sit in the coffee shop for the first time, what I like to do is asking what the signature coffee they have.So the waiter pointed to this Special Buttered Kopi. This black coffee they mixed with butter and I mixed it again with brown sugar because I don't like white sugar. And the taste...?
You should come over if you curious ;)
They have also Ultimate Iced Kopi which is best seller, but at the moment I don't like to try cold drink.
Bao is the road to happiness...
And ofcourse I love to try because I choose to be happy :))
Bao or we know as bakpao normally,is bun with many flavour inside.I like to try this Black Sesame Steam Bao for the dessert. There are some varian like Salted egg lava,Durian lava,or pandan paste. This bao taste is rich and delicious but too bad I can't finish it because too full already.
Over all,my late lunch in HEI KOPI is wonderful and I really enjoyed it.I plan to come again for another lunch :))
